The DSK consortium celebrated the World Environment Day (WED) 2022 today jointly with the Department of Environment (DoE) and Poribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA) by organizing a seminar having the title of ‘environment-friendly solid waste management and CSO’s active participation’ keeping alignment with the theme of WED 2022, ‘Only One Earth: Living Sustainably with Nature’. The major objective of the event was to exchange knowledge gaps among CBOs, community members, and relevant authorities. The event will also sensitize media, service providers, and respective LGIs to come forward to respond to citizens’ needs. The event was participated by different stakeholders ranging from the ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEF&CC), DoE, academics, activists, media, CSOs, youth groups, CBO & Federations leaders, etc.
The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Additional Secretary, MoEF&CC. The Special Guest of the event were Mr. Syed Nazmul Ahsan, Director (Air Quality Management), DoE, Ms. Rumaisa Samad, Director, BARCIK, and Dr. Debashish Kundu, Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka. The Guest of Honor of the event was Sumona Binte Masud, Project Management Specialist, USAID, and Mr. Mainuddin Ahmed, Chief of Party, Counterpart International (CPI). The event was Chaired by Mr. Abu Naser Khan, Chairman, POBA, and Moderated by Sanjida Jahan Ashrafi, Consortium Coordinator, DSK. The keynote paper of the event was presented by Mr. Pavel Partho, Director, BARCIK.
