The platform members has conducted a liaison/coordination meeting with Terokhada Upazila Secondary Education Officer on August 25, 2020 at Terokhada Upazila. The meeting was organized to ensure that students do not become disinterested in their studies during the Corona period and that they do not fall behind in their studies, especially to ensure that children do not fall prey to child marriage.
At the meeting, Ms. Sahela Sultana, Platform Member and Upazila Academic Supervisor, told that- “we all need to work together so that the students do not lose interest in education and do not fall behind”
Then Mr. Noor Mohammad Sifat, Platform Member and President of Terokhada Press Club gave the following insight:
“During this pandemic situation, those of us who work for various emergency issues now must talk to every parent so that their children’s education does not stop and they stay focused on their education as before. And the teachers need to play vibrant role in this regard”
After all, Mr. Rafiqul Islam, Upazila Secondary Education Officer, said, “Your words are very valuable. We have to work from different places so that the students do not lose interest in education and do not lag behind in education. He added that the teachers of each school will go to the homes of the students in their area and talk to them and their parents so that they can continue their regular studies at home, as well as prevent any students from dropping out and early marriage. We will soon take the initiative to introduce digital teaching through Zoom Apps.
In the light of this discussion, on September 1, 2020, the Upazila Secondary Education Officer, Mr. Rafiqul Islam, issued a notice to each school as per the previous commitment. He also give the following insight:
“I am very happy that the teachers have started visiting the homes of the students and so far I have learned that 10 teachers have already visited the homes of around 50 female students”.
