On behalf of DSK-Consortium, Coalition for the Urban Poor (CUP) organized a Local Level Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on Solid Waste Management Rules-2021 at Zone-02 Meeting Room of DNCC in Mirpur-02, Dhaka on May 25, 2022, with the objective of sensitizing the local duty bearers for their accountable and transparent role in the proper implementation of solid waste management rules-2021 to minimize environmental pollution and to build bridges among different stakeholders of the project to enhance collaboration amidst them for continuing advocacy initiatives.
The event was the part of youth, women group development, CBO & Federation leaders, social mobilization, other awareness activities and follow-up of the previous LLSCM.
The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Ziaur Rahman, Zonal Executive Officer (Deputy Secretary), Executive Magistrate, DNCC while Masuda Farouk Ratna, Executive Director, Gram Bikash Shohayok Sangstha (GBSS) was the Chair of the event. Doctor Farzana Afroz, Assistant Health Officer, Zone-02, DNCC discussed about the health impact of waste mismanagement and and Mr. Anowar Hossain Bhuiyan, Assistant Social Welfare Officer, Zone-02 discussed the current waste management practices of slums.
Tapping the existing waste management problem in the slum, CBO leaders and youth leader raised their demands in front of the Zonal Executive Officer and other officials of Zone -2, Dhaka North City Corporation.
