Shushilan consortium organized a meeting with the working committee on December 27, 2022, at the Khulna City Corporation conference room on the model wards plan execution progress. Through the PowerPoint presentation, the model ward’s background, model wards plan, objectives, indicators, progress, and future course of action have been shared to make successful the model wards dream under Khulna City Corporation of Bangladesh.
In the meeting, M. Nazmul Azom David, Executive Director of Paribartan-Khulna said, under the ERB project it is our last meeting with the working committee. But the working committee is very important to make Khulna as a planned city. Already, the committee members are visiting the slum areas, finding the problems related to waste management, WATSAN, drainage, waterlogging, and others as well as taking departmental initiatives to address the issues for improvement of the identified problems. He proposed to KCC Mayor to continue the working committee meeting beyond PAR support.
In the meeting, as a Chief Guest, KCC Mayor Mr. Talukder Abdul Khaleque said,” The working committee is playing a significant role under PAR for planned urbanization at the KCC level. This committee is already developed a model ward plan and is responsible to implement the monitoring framework. I am coordinating the working committee. For the holistic development of Khulna as a planned city, this committee will help us to implement the development initiatives jointly. So, without PAR support, KCC will continue the working committee meeting. A lot of thanks to USAID, Counterpart International, Shushilan, and Paribartan-Khulna to form and strengthen the working committee. Through to continue the meeting within the working committee members will share, coordinate and cooperate on our development initiatives to make planned Khulna for our future generation.”
It is mentioned that Shushilan consortium has formed 25 members working committee with the representation of KCC, KDA, KWASA, DoE, DPHE, Media, Private sector, CSOs, Urban Youth, and Adults under the ERB project.
