Dhaka CALLING Project (DCP) facilitated Community-Led Waste Management System (CLWMS) at Molla slum on 26 January 2022 to illustrate an exemplary model that can be pursued at different campaign and advocacy events to have and replicate it. Led by the community people the Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Taijul Islam Chowdhury Bappy, honorable Ward Councilor, ward no. 6 and the Special Guest of the event was Mr. Abdus Sattar Molla, a local leader. The event was facilitated by Ms. Sanjida Jahan Ashrafi, Consortium Coordinator, DSK.
One Van, 2 Trolleys, and 15 Bins (10 Green, 05 Yellow) have been distributed among the community peoples to bring them under the CLWMS system and focus on waste segregation at the source. The major objective of the activity was to bring slum community people under the best practices of managing solid waste system by providing technical support, opening windows of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) and, providing advocacy scopes and options to have better alternatives.
Following the opening, distribution, and speech from the guests, a street drama and Jaree Gaan were performed demonstrating physically the pros of the CLWMS.
